Abraham

God Always Does the Right Thing


I. God Always Does the Right Thing, Even If It Takes A long Time

A. After ten years, God still hadn’t delivered on His promise.

· He left his family and country
· God promised to bless him and his descendants
· Abraham lived through a famine
· He feared Pharoah and lied to him
· He experience family conflict—he and Lot separated
· When Lot was kidnapped, he pursued the kidnapper and fought to rescue him
· He still had no son

Genesis 15:1, 5-6

II. God Always Does the Right Thing, Even If What He Says Seems Absurd

A. Abraham and Sarah will have a son in their old age
Genesis 18:10,12
B. Is anything too hard for God? Genesis 18:14

III. God Always Does the Right Thing, Even If We Question Him

A. Abraham talked with God concerning Sodom
“Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?” Genesis 18:23
B. God is a righteous judge. Just as He preserved the innocent in Sodom, He will take care of you and me.
“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” Genesis 18:25

IV. God Always Does the Right Thing, Even If We Do Not Understand

A. God asked Abraham to kill his beloved son Isaac

He finally understood that we should not try to understand God until we have first obeyed Him.

· Perfection is not a prerequisite for God to begin His work in our lives.
· God’s blessings are never earned.
